Hari Raya Puasa: "The Joyous Celebration of Forgiveness, Fellowship and Food."

A warm greetings from NephewAndNieces! Its been awhile since we've last posted, we've missed you! For the two weeks leading onto Hari Raya Puasa, We'll be doing something special for both Muslims and Non-Muslims alike: We're having a store wide discount on all our items, ontop of that, a significant percentage of sales goes to charity

Here at NephewAndNieces, We're always excited to celebrate anything that involves family. So.. to people that don't know what Hari Raya is, here's a little information:

Hari Raya Puasa, also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is the festival that marks the end Ramadan. Ramadan is a month long period, where devotees of the faith spend dawn to dusk fasting. It is the time around the world where Muslims focus on religious devotion, compassionate acts and giving to charity.

The Festival of Eid is one of the two most important islamic celebrations, it is a day of Forgiveness, Fellowship and Food.

On this day, families wake up early, visit mosque's to recite special prayers to thank god. They then visit their families, dressed in new and colorful clothing. People seek forgiveness from their elders and recieve 'green packets' containing money. They celebrate by indulging themselves in delicacies specially prepared... Yum!

Bazaars all over the country opens, offering a large array of Malay and Middle Eastern Products, from clothing to foods, deserts to perfume.

A wonderful celebration indeed. Stay tuned over the next few days for more details!
