This is a beautiful large glass bowl made by George Davidson and Co. of Gateshead, England who started production of cloud glass in 1923. This bowl has a roll-over rim and is shape or pattern 1910D as seen in their catalogues of 1931. The bowl has a lovely amber color and is polished on the outer rim and inside bowl with a matte or satin finish to the fluted side and base. Cloud glass is created by applying streaks or trails of dark colored glass to a paler base glass which is then compressed in a mould to create a beautiful random finished pattern, each piece being unique. We date this piece to the Art Deco period of the 1930s. This is a very decorative and practical large bowl of over 11 inch diameter, with many uses.
