Vintage biscuits barrel by A. E. GRAY 1920

A vintage square (cuboid) Ceramic Biscuit Barrel/ Cookie Jar made by A.E. Gray and Co Ltd, Hanley, England in 1920, with a silver plate lid and handle. A.E Gray and Co Ltd worked in Stoke from 1912 to 1961 when it became Portmeirion Potteries Ltd, however this back stamp on the base was only used between the years 1919-20 period. The jar is is decorated with a black trellis design with pink roses and blue cornflowers on a white background. The rim is stamped EPNS England and the handle and lid is adorned with a ball knobs as a handle and either side of the hinged handle. The jar is approx 15 cm tall (not including the handle) and 13 cm across.
