1910 Antique Dragon and Pheobnix handpainted ginger jar

Antique Chinese Dragon and Phoenix Porcelain Tea Jar Chinese Republic Era 1912 to 1949 Lidded Hand Painted

The jar is all hand painted and features a dragon with flaming pearl and a rising Phoenix. All with a dragon scale design in red and gold.

The jar is in fantastic condition with no cracks or chips. Minor wear to gold and red enamel glaze is seen on the lid. This was acquired from an estate sale.

I would date the jar to the early Republic Era 1912-1920. This is based on paint color and the hand painted artwork, porcelain color and the foot of the piece. Later pieces are less fine on the painted design and also, the iron oxide paint was replaced with a synthetic paint that’s more saturated and less opaque in the 1960’s.
