Royal Crown Derby at Its Most Opulent

Few English potteries command the reverence of Royal Crown Derby. Holder of the Royal Warrant since 1890 and the only manufacturer in England permitted to use both "Royal" and the Crown in its name, Derby has been producing some of Britain's finest bone china since 1750. This compact bowl, dating to circa 1919, is decorated in the house's celebrated Imari pattern — a rich interplay of cobalt blue, iron red and 22-carat gilding inspired by the Japanese export ware that captivated European taste centuries earlier.

At 15cm across and 8cm tall, it is the perfect scale for a dressing table, writing desk, or display cabinet: present enough to anchor a vignette, refined enough never to overwhelm it. The gilded interior catches the light beautifully.
