This is an appealing antique English earthenware plate decorated with an intricate blue and white transfer-printed design in the popular Chinoiserie style.

Pattern and Design:

The central scene features a complex Oriental-inspired landscape. It includes traditional elements like pagodas, elaborate garden architecture, a bridge, and small figures. Unlike the "Willow Pattern," this is a less common design, though it shares the characteristic dark blue color and highly detailed engraving typical of Staffordshire or Yorkshire pottery from the 19th century (likely mid-Victorian era). The plate features a decorative, scalloped or moulded rim, which adds a distinctive, high-end touch to the piece.

Maker's Mark and Origin:

There are no visible factory marks on the reverse of the plate. The small paper label on the front mentions "LEEDS POTTERY," but this is a common attribution for unmarked earthenware pieces and cannot be verified without a clear mark. It is definitively English earthenware transferware.

Plate Condition:

Overall, the plate is in good antique condition. It displays the desirable characteristics expected of a piece of this age:

Crazing: A fine network of crazing (tiny lines in the glaze) is visible across the surface, confirming its age and earthenware body.

Wear: There are typical surface scratches and minor utensil marks from past use.

Damage: No major chips, cracks, or repairs are apparent in the images.

Note: The small white paper label is attached to the rim in the image.
