This is the Louis XV style kidney-shaped table dating to the late 18th or early 19th century (c. 1770–1830). Authentic pieces from this era are distinguished by the exceptional quality of the hand-chased ormolu (gilt-bronze) mounts and the use of genuine Carrara marble for the top.
The "kidney" or haricot shape was a hallmark of the refined French transition into Neoclassicism, favored for its graceful lines and functional elegance in salons. An original of this caliber demonstrates master-level marquetry and joinery, often featuring hand-cut dovetails and period-correct hardware that place it as a significant example of French cabinetmaking from the late Bourbon or Restoration periods.
