antique Grimwades "Quick-Cooker" pudding bowl with lid, a patented Edwardian ceramic and ironstone steaming vessel made in England around 1910 to 1911

Key Features
  • Design: Cream-colored ironstone or stoneware pottery printed with green instructions and diagrams.
  • Function: Features a central hollow or funnel design that conducts heat directly into the center of the pudding, cutting down cooking time without needing a traditional pudding cloth.
  • Capacity & Size: Typically holds about \(2 \frac{1}{2}\) pints (around a 6-inch to 7-inch size), with a groove on the lid designed to form a watertight seal when tied with string.
They received the Gold Medal at the London Exhibition in 1911 for this innovative design.
Grimwades was so proud of this achievement that they updated the transfer-printed graphics on the side of subsequent production runs to boldly advertise "GOLD MEDAL LONDON 1911" alongside their patent numbers.
Additionally, the underside of the lid featured an award stamp that read: "Highest Award As Ideal Pottery For The Pantry London 1910", marking a multi-year streak of recognition for its efficiency in saving time and fuel.
