This is a classic Victorian pressed glass footed bowl, produced between 1880 and 1900. The design features a high-relief "diamond and star" pattern, which was a popular technique used by British and American glassworks to mimic the brilliance of expensive hand-cut crystal. The bowl is elevated on a short, sturdy pedestal base with a matching starburst pattern on the underside, and it is finished with a distinctive scalloped rim. Given its size and depth, it was likely intended as a centerpiece for serving fruit, nuts, or sweets. Its excellent clarity and the precision of the pressed details make it a fine example of late-19th-century mass-produced elegance, designed to bring a touch of luxury to the Victorian dining table.
