The Gustavian style, prevalent in Sweden during the late 18th century, was influenced by French Neoclassicism and named after King Gustav III. Desks like the one pictured, often referred to as secretaires or writing desks, were crafted by master cabinetmakers in Stockholm Swedish Desk.
