Vintage Wedgwood Jasperware Commemorative Plate — Coronation 25th Anniversary 1978

Commemorating a Quarter Century of the Coronation

Issued in 1978 to mark the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation in 1953, this Wedgwood Jasperware commemorative plate is a distinguished piece of royal British history. Where the 1977 Silver Jubilee celebrated 25 years of the Queen's reign, this plate honours the Coronation itself — the solemn and magnificent ceremony that began it all. A subtle but meaningful distinction that makes this a particularly interesting collector's piece.

Wedgwood Royal Commemorative Craftsmanship

Rendered in Wedgwood's iconic pale blue and white Jasperware stoneware, the plate bears the raised white sprig relief decoration and commemorative detailing that define Wedgwood's celebrated royal editions. As one of Britain's most prestigious potteries, Wedgwood was a natural choice to mark such occasions, and their commemorative pieces are among the most prized in the collector's market.

Renewed Significance for Collectors

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, pieces commemorating her reign and Coronation have taken on renewed sentimental and historical value for collectors worldwide. This 1978 plate is a tangible piece of that legacy.
