This is a beautiful example of pressed flint glass, Victorian berry or fruit bowl dating to the late 19th century (c. 1880–1890). It features a sophisticated "cut glass" imitation pattern, common in American and British pressed glass of the era, characterized by deep geometric starbursts, diamond point quilting, and a distinctive scalloped or "sawtooth" rim. The clarity of the glass and the way it catches the light suggests a high lead content, designed to provide the elegance of expensive hand-cut crystal at a more accessible price point for the Victorian middle-class home. Such pieces were often used as centerpieces for serving fruit or trifles, and this particular bowl remains a classic representation of late Victorian decorative tableware.
