The piece is a commemorative Loving Cup created by Wedgwood in their signature pale blue Jasperware. It was issued as part of the Royal Wedding Collection to celebrate the marriage of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) and Lady Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981. The traditional two-handled cup is decorated with white molded relief (sprigging), featuring detailed profile portraits of the couple, the Prince of Wales's feathers, and the inscription of the event and the date. Many of these loving cups were part of a larger, limited edition series, making it a highly collectible piece of British royal history.
