1920s oak sectional three tier oak bookcase/ Display cabinet
A 1920s oak sectional three tier oak bookcase, stepped shape front on a plinth base, height 129cm x depth 36cm x width 86cm.
Founded in 1899, the Globe -Wernicke bookcase was named “the barrister style” and was marketed as an “elastic bookcase” by the furniture, manufacturer Globe-Wernicke in 1898. Originally based in Cincinnati, the company also established factories in Canada, France, Germany and the UK. The name Globe-Wernicke became synonymous with the barrister style design. This attractive glazed bookcase is in oak with four modular stacking sections, each with a separate plinth and top. The lifting fronts are leaded glass and the bookcase retains its original patina.
This is an extremely easy to move and useful bookcase due to its modular stacking construction. It can be taken apart into four sections and put back together with ease.
