A rarely seen Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery compote printed in the “Eastern Port” Pattern by John & William Ridgway of Hanley, Staffordshire, { 1814 – c. 1830 }. The pattern, which shows an Eastern port scene framed within within a floral border featuring several crowns flanked by thistles and roses, remained unattributed until recent years when an example bearing the rare impressed lower case “Ridgway” mark was reported. Ref. Coysh and Henrywood, “The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 – 1880, Vol II”, { A.C.C. Woodbridge 1989 }.
